A borewell drilling project completed for a residential villa in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. The work involved assessing site access, selecting the appropriate drilling approach, determining casing requirements, and drilling to the final depth based on the conditions encountered at the site.

A complete technical summary of the Gachibowli villa borewell project.

The property owner required a dedicated borewell to support daily household water use at a newly built independent villa in Gachibowli. The site had no existing borewell, and the property was relying entirely on tanker water at the time of enquiry.
The customer's main requirement was a functioning borewell that could support regular domestic water needs, along with a pump sized correctly for the depth once drilling was complete. No specific daily water-quantity target was provided by the customer, so this was not treated as a fixed benchmark for the project.
The plot had direct road access with enough open space in the side yard for the DTH rig to be positioned without difficulty. Machinery movement into the compound did not require any structural modification, and no access restrictions were encountered.
Drilling encountered top soil and weathered rock down to approximately 60 ft, transitioning into hard granite formation from that point to the final recorded depth of 620 ft. No unusually soft or unstable zones were noted below the weathered layer.
Two borewells in the same layout, drilled previously, were known to reach between roughly 550–600 ft. This information was used only as general context during planning — it was not treated as a guarantee of depth or water availability for this site.
The site was inspected, road and compound access were checked, and the available information on nearby borewells was reviewed before a suitable drilling position was identified within the side yard.
The DTH rig was positioned and levelled at the identified spot, with the working area cleared and basic safety measures put in place before drilling began.
Drilling commenced through the top soil and weathered rock layer. Progress was monitored continuously, and the transition into harder rock was noted as drilling advanced.
As drilling progressed through the granite formation, the team monitored the drilling response and cuttings for indications of water-bearing fractures. Drilling continued until a fracture zone was encountered and the final depth of 620 ft was reached. No guarantee of water was assumed at any stage before this point.
Casing was required to prevent the loose soil and weathered rock near the surface from collapsing into the bore. It was not required in the underlying hard granite section, which is self-supporting.
Drilling progressed steadily through the weathered zone before slowing in the hard granite section, as expected for this formation. The final depth was selected once a water-bearing fracture zone was identified in the drilling response, rather than at a pre-fixed target depth. Reaching a greater depth does not, by itself, indicate better water availability — the result depends on whether a fracture zone carrying water is actually intersected.
Site inspected and drilling location evaluated.
Equipment positioned and drilling preparations completed.
Drilling progressed through the encountered formations.
Required casing installed based on site conditions.
Drilling reached the recorded final depth of 620 ft.
Pump installed and final project work recorded.
The borewell was drilled to a final depth of 620 ft, with 80 ft of casing installed in the upper soil and weathered-rock section. A water-bearing fracture zone was encountered near the final depth, and the bore was assessed as yielding usable water. A 5 HP submersible pump was subsequently installed to bring the water to the property's storage tank.
